Covid-19 Policy and Procedures

Covid-19 Policy

Objective: To reduce risk to the lowest reasonably practicable level by taking preventative measures.

I may amend this document subject to any changes within the Government recommendations.

General principles

  • I reserve the right to decline work or leave a client session if I feel that I cannot guarantee a safe working environment for myself and/or my client
  • For the safety of my clients, myself and my family, I cannot work in a household that is isolating because one or more family members have symptoms or have tested positive for Covid-19
  • I will only carry out work when I am in good health, and have not had symptoms or received a positive test result
  • In line with government guidelines, if I become aware that I have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19, I am not required to isolate because I am fully vaccinated however, I will notify my client so that we can consider risks to any vulnerable members of the household

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Covid-19 needs to be managed through social distancing and hygiene, not use of PPE
  • PPE may protect others when in enclosed spaces if you are infected but have not developed symptoms
  • Face masks are advisory in crowded places but not required by law. Therefore I will only wear gloves or face coverings;
      • where a client particularly requests it OR
      • where the environment is enclosed and not well ventilated
      • My client is also expected to provide and wear their own face mask, unless exempt

Procedures

Booking in work with clients

In the context of COVID-19, when booking work with clients I will:

  • Carry out consultations via video/telephone call as per my normal policy
  • Discuss how the work will be carried out to minimise the risk for all parties
  • Freshly launder my clothes ahead of each client visit

Face-to-face sessions with clients

In the context of COVID-19, when attending face-to-face sessions I will:

  • Contact my client the day before our appointment to confirm that there has been no change to the client’s or my health. We may postpone our appointment to a mutually agreeable date if required
  • Avoid travelling by any form of public transport
  • Take my breaks outside where possible
  • Wash my hands for 20 seconds or use hand sanitiser regularly (client to provide soap and a clean towel; I will provide hand sanitiser)
  • Keep a reasonable distane from any other people in the home wherever possible
  • If my client and I need to be in the same room, maintain reasonable distance, use back-to-back or side-to-side working (rather than face-to-face) whenever possible. Wear a face mask when working in close proximity in a poorly ventilated space
  • Leave all waste/ recycling with my client so as to avoid potential transmission of infection
